Buy Health : Tips on healthy diet
In India, chronic diseases kill one out of every two persons whereas the heart-related ailments continue to take a heavy toll. It is estimated that by 2020 cardiovascular disease would be the single-largest cause of disability and deaths in the country. On the other hand, India has the largest number of people with diabetes, evoking the comment that “India is the diabetes capital of the world.”
More shockingly, many Indians succumb to diabetes and heart attacks in their most productive years. A large part of the problem can be traced to normal diets in India which comprises less of fresh fruits and vegetables and more of fast food, at least among young urban Indians. Hence, as part of its campaign to generate the health related awareness, Union health and family welfare ministry, in association with the Health Foundation of India, launched www.healthy-india.org.
The site provides information on major diseases including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer and strokes, disease prevention opportunities, tips on earlier detection and treatment of chronic diseases, and awareness about healthy lifestyles involving diet, physical activity, tobacco and alcohol prevention, environmental Yoga, and stress management. Additionally, the sections on fruits and vegetables, prevention of tobacco and obesity, and health consciousness at the school and the worksite levels are quite stimulating.
